Two working notes from building RAJ3A. Both are about the part of data recovery that happens after the tool finishes: the name came back wrong, or the file came back empty.

The file you recovered might be a ghost: checking integrity from the bytes alone
Recovery tools hand back files whose data never came back. Head markers, tail markers and three samples from the middle are enough to tell intact from partial from placeholder — and no, checking for zero bytes isn't enough.
